This storyline takes place about halfway thru Domition’s reign and the primary location is Dacia ( Modern day Romania). The Dacian were a surprise to the Roman Legions and their tactics and weaponry forced changes in the quality and composition of legionary armor.The campaign against Dacia and unrest on the border with the Germanic tribe are the primary focus of the book.The secondary focus is the political arena of the emperor’s advisors and daily Roman life.The book brings closure to the lives and loves of Correus and Flavius. I strongly recommend it both as a stand-alone story or in conjunction with a reader having read the first three novels of this series. I read and reread the first three novels of this series since they were originally published in the eighties. I loved them and didn't even know that Damion Hunter was female. I've waited forty years for the forth installment but must admit to being less than pleased. It is mostly a rehash of episodes from the first three.
